Privacy policy

Effective 28 August 2026. Fathom Reach is made by Terry Tata, trading as Feldsparc. This policy covers the game on every platform we ship it to and the backend service the game talks to. Write to feldsparc@pm.me with any question about it.

What we do not collect

Fathom Reach collects no passive gameplay analytics and no automatic error or crash reports. We run no third-party analytics or crash processor. We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising, and the game contains no ads and no tracking for advertising purposes.

Nothing about how you play reaches us unless you are playing online or you press Send on a feedback note.

Playing offline

Single-player Fathom Reach runs without an account and without a connection. Your save file stays on your device. On desktop, Open Descent, Daily Signal, and Endless Descent all work this way. On mobile, offline play is available once the full game is unlocked.

We receive nothing at all from an offline session.

Playing online

Ranked raids, ladders, leaderboards, and the metered free tier on mobile need an account and a connection, because they involve other players and rules we have to enforce on our side rather than yours.

Your account is identified by a Fathom Reach account id we generate. We never ask you for a name, an email address, a date of birth, or a payment detail, and we never receive your platform password. While you play online we store:

Everything above travels over HTTPS.

The rig name is public

You choose a name for your rig. That name is shown to other players wherever your account appears: ladder standings, leaderboards, raid matchmaking, and The Drowned Ace. Pick a name you are willing to show publicly. You can change it at any time from the game, and the new name replaces the old one everywhere it appears.

Mobile accounts and purchases

Mobile uses one Fathom Reach account proven by Sign in with Apple on iOS or Play Games Services on Android. Signing in opens a short-lived session with our backend. No reusable credential is written into your save.

When you buy the full unlock we record the transaction identifier, the product id, the app id, whether the purchase is active or revoked, and the times it was made and last updated. We give each account two random aliases so Apple and Google can match a purchase back to it without us handing either company anything else about you.

We do not store raw Google purchase tokens, Apple signed transactions, sign-in authorization codes, provider OAuth tokens, private keys, or your session bearer. The purchase record exists so the unlock survives a reinstall and a new device.

If you move to a new device, an authenticated device can show a single-use link code that expires after ten minutes. We store only a hash of that code, and entering it on the new device consumes it.

Feedback notes

The in-game feedback form sends nothing until you press Send. When you do, we receive the category you picked, the note you wrote, the screen you were on, your language, your app version, and your platform. Your save file is not attached.

Because the note is free text, it can pick up things you did not mean to send. Our server redacts email addresses and home-directory usernames from the note before storing it. We keep notes for 90 days and then delete them automatically.

Who else sees your data

Our backend runs on Fly.io, including the Postgres database that holds the records above. Fly.io hosts the data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.

Apple, Google, and Valve handle sign-in and payment on their own platforms under their own privacy policies. We see the results of those operations, not the underlying credentials or payment information.

Other players see your rig name, your ranking, your base layout, and the outcome of raids between you. They do not see your platform identity, your purchase history, or anything you sent us through the feedback form.

We disclose data outside these cases only when the law requires it.

How long we keep things

Account records last as long as your account does. Feedback notes are deleted after 90 days whether or not your account still exists. When you delete your account, the records tied to it are removed at the same time.

Deleting your account

Open Settings in the game and choose Delete All Progress. This deletes your account and everything attached to it: progress, base snapshots, ladder and leaderboard entries, defense reports, link codes, purchase records, and any feedback note that was linked to your account. Raids in flight against your base are retired so nobody is left with an unplayable match.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Nothing is kept that would let us recognize you if you come back later, so a returning player starts over as a new account.

Deleting your account does not refund or cancel your purchase, which is held by Apple or Google rather than by us. If you start over, Restore Purchase returns your full unlock.

You can also request deletion from the web at the deletion page without installing the game.

Children

Fathom Reach is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from a child below the age at which their country allows consent without a parent. If you believe a child has created an account, write to feldsparc@pm.me and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or receive a copy. Delete All Progress covers deletion directly. For anything else, write to feldsparc@pm.me and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and note what changed. A change that affects what we collect or why will be announced in the game before it takes effect.
